Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst works with the other members of the finance & accounting team and corresponds with others throughout the organization on matters relating to finance & accounting as needed.
This role is multi-faceted and encompasses several areas of finance & accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Compiles annual budgets, forecasts and financial reports as required, including continued development and maintenance of the models.
- Prepares and presents DCF business models as required, including continued development and maintenance of the models.
- Support management in monitoring, compiling and interpreting financial data for reporting, planning and decision-making purposes.
- Prepares monthly voyage analyzers.
- Completes revenue accounting including related journal entries, preparation of general ledger account reconciliations, calculating and/or reviewing special adjustments.

- Completes various responsibilities for the monthly financial close including, but not limited to, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis reports for several companies.
- Uploads the annual budget into Infor/Lawson accounting software.
- Assists with year-end audits including preparation of schedules, general ledger account grouping reports for financial statements and pulling documentation.
- Completes various ad-hoc reporting and analysis projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Accountant (CA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is an asset.
- 3 or more years of related experience of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience.
- Able to create concise reports and synthesize large data sets.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel.
- Proficient with accounting software, particularly Lawson is an asset.
- Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills.
- Able to create and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Confidentiality, discretion and diplomacy on all business matters.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Multi-tasking and organization skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team environment and balance the needs of a number of individuals and the team.
- Capable of identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Business minded with strong strategic acumen and analytical skills.
- Good understanding of financial markets.
Working Conditions:
- Operates in an open office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers and phones.
- Requires routine after hour and weekend work.
