General description
The Technical Superintendent is the support point for vessels who experience technical issues. Close guidance to the vessel management team is a major priority. Performance and company policies needs to be closely monitored. Working in a multi-national environment, the official language will be English. The position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Responsibilities & Duties

General
• Reports directly to the Technical Manager in case off any technical issues on board of the assigned vessel. Suggest correct actions and follow instructions. Outside working hours, contact the Technical manager by phone or SMS. Update the Technical Manager on a regular basis and provide information if needed.
• Coordinate all operations and technical matters. Make sure everything will be completed based on company policies, rules and regulations and industry standards.
• Implement new machines if necessary. Monitor and adjust in order to have cost savings.
• Co-operate with the operations department, in order to optimize vessel performances.
• Time management of open projects etc.
• Control vessel OPEX and make sure all items related to deck and engines are stored
• Control and monitor oil quality and equipment on board. Regularly check the log books and update if needed. Order and restock supplies if needed.
• Maintain the health and safety on the vessel according to company’s guidelines.
• Systematically monitors the effectiveness of verification and inspection activities within his / her department and within the fleet
• Accountable for achieving your objectives

Technical
• Regular inspection of the hull, machinery, electrical equipment as registered in the PMS system and marked by the class/flag state requirements.
• Plan and monitor surveys in order to keep an updated class and flag state review.
• Ensure all certificates all legal and updated
• Ensure the statutory and class regulation/standards
• Solve all operations problems while onboard of the vessel
• Inspection of the assigned vessels, according to QA forms. Monitor their condition and summarize this. Analyze inspection reports.

• Assign maintenance instructions
• Assist the crew members with problems or malfunctions
• Create efficient repair methods in collaboration with the Technical Manager.
• Evaluate repair quotations (best quality of work/cost relation), while taken into account the itinerary of the vessel and the charterer party obligations.
• Schedule repairs effectively, to avoid delay
• Schedule equipment maintenance according the SMS procedure.
• Process and save documentation and correspondence related to New Building (new vessel construction/management/purchase) in SP.
• Process guarantee claims and save them in SP.

Health, Quality, Safety and Environmental protection management
• Promote the SMS and safety policy on board. Be committed to it
• Report any deviates from SMS to the technical manager and DPA and imply improvements
• Maintain working conditions on board
• Accomplish bi-annual environment audits (OFT-004)
• Cooperate in investigations of accidents, incidents and near misses. Review all current reports and solve, rewrite these
• Join the Emergency response team if needed, under the guidance of the technical manager
• Shall be responsible for ensuring safe and correct working conditions onboard and in the office

Purchasing
• Review and approve SPO
• Make sure all purchase order are reviewed before ordering.

Crew
• Monitor and evaluate performances from the staff onboard
• Provide in-house training for staff
• Take place to briefings and de-briefings before and after the end of the contract
• Prepare interviews for new staff members

Qualifications
• Marine Chief Engineer STCW III/2 ( Location: Worldwide
