The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled Ferry Operations Manager to join our Currituck Ferry Operations team. This is an administrative and supervisory role managing shore operations at a large/high-volume NCDOT Ferry terminal.
In this role, you will:
⦁ Direct all vessel and shore staff and oversee shore support facilities including building and vessel maintenance, equipment, and supplies.
⦁ Analyze and recommend operating budgets.
⦁ Negotiate and recommend maintenance and repair contracts with government and private service providers.
⦁ Plan and schedule crew complements for vessel operations and manage overtime work for seven-day week operations that vary seasonally according to traffic volumes.
⦁ Direct and oversee enforcement of safety standards by OSHA., US Coast Guard, Federal Communications Commission, and other State and Federal enforcement agencies.
⦁ Ensure that vessels are staffed with US Coast Guard-certified crewmembers.
What You Bring
⦁ Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of ferry vessels.
⦁ Demonstrated ability to ensure NCDOT Ferry Division polices are communicated, applied, and enforced. (i.e. safety, accounting, operational, regulatory, and administrative).
⦁ Experience planning, organizing, delegating, creating schedules, and budgets.
⦁ Experience scheduling, communicating, and dispatching ferry crews, work crews, equipment or equipment vehicles to appropriate locations according to specifications or safety needs.
⦁ Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable USCG rules and regulations directly impacting ferry operations.
⦁ A US Coast Guard Ordinary Seaman Merchant Mariner Credential within 90 days of hire.
⦁ A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Education & Experience
⦁ Associate's degree, and
⦁ 4 years experience in office management/related administrative work; or
⦁ High School diploma/GED, and
⦁ 6 years experience in office management/related administrative work; or
⦁ An equivalent combination of education and experience.
