• Serve as the main point of contact for all marine related issues within the company
• Comply with the Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards and applicable process documentation
• Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right first time, every time and contribute actively to continual improvement activities
• Interface with Operations and Maintenance departments regarding all marine related matters:
o Provide advice and verify voyage plans and rig move operations, including mobilization, load-out and offloading as required
o Participate in planning of UWILD and dockings as requested by classification societies, this includes generating SOR, SOW and budget proposal
o Daily support to Masters and marine crew
• Maintain a good working relationship with industry related companies in regard to marine operations and co-workers
• Maintain a good communication with the Masters on duty and Rig Manager /Ops Supt for each asset.
• Create goals and clear objectives, mentor and evaluate the onshore personnel under his/her supervision on an annual basis
• Find innovative ways to improve rig efficiency
• Ensure that the Marine related systems are suitable for safe and efficient operations
• Improve maintenance tasks related to marine equipment and optimize procedures for
o Damage control equipment
o Safety equipment
o Asset preservation plans
o Lifting plans
o Bunker plans etc.
• Review and recommend a process for all Marine activities (navigation equipment, ballast control, stability etc.), develop plans for implementation and budget proposal as required
• Liaise with Flag State, Classification Societies, Marine Warranty Surveyors and other regulatory authorities to ensure that management is current with all regulatory certifications and advise of any new requirements or changes to governing legislations that would impact operations
• Actively review, evaluate and advise on IMCA and other industry standards
• Identify and coach / train successor
• Maintain a strong focus on latest trends and best practice with the company and the oil and gas industry
• Develop updates and communicate department standards procedures and systems, including the Marine Section of the Operations Manuals in a professional and timely manner
• Work closely with HR department to review recommend and interview as needed to verify the competency and licensing of prospective employees and internal candidates
• Conduct meetings for the purpose of discussing ongoing marine projects or other departmental issues within the company so goals and objectives are maintained and develop strategies to improve performance and reduce cost of marine operation
• Actively participate in annual budget proposal for all marine related issues
• Develop key indicators to measure the performance of the marine department onshore and offshore
• Assume deputy DPA and CSO duties when required.
