The general responsibilities of the Barge Engineer are the day to day operation of the marine department with particular regards to stability, deck and boat operations, and preventive maintenance systems for the department, safe operations and procedures. (S)He must also assist the OIM in all marine matters related to the operation of the rig including, but not limited to: lifting operations; radio and rescue equipment; stability; helicopter operations; tanks and confined spaces; logbooks and operational compliance; training of marine personnel; and certain emergency response roles.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AS BARGE ENGINEER

The ultimate objective of this position is to ensure that all mechanical systems remain operative throughout the operation, and comply with safety, regulatory body and test standards. Therefore, the Barge Engineer is responsible for following preventive maintenance procedures on all mechanical equipment, maintaining inventory records for parts used on repairs, and communicating daily with the
OIM on the status of equipment repairs. Furthermore, you will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the engine and engine room, supervising the transfer of fluids and the discharge of sewage, and any other duties as assigned by the OIM.

AMS QMS. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for candidates with minimum 3 years offshore services and / or drilling experience and a proven track record. As a minimum you master written and spoken English. In addition the following requirements are needed:
 Certificate of competency STCW II (unlimited).
 Completion of Management of Major Emergencies Course.
 Certificate of competency as Unit Security Officer according to the International Ship and Port security Code part A and B.
 BOSIET Certificate or equivalent.
 MIST Certificate or equivalent.
 Offshore Medical Certificate or equivalent.
 H2S Training or equivalent (as per location requirement).
 Must have the ability to interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematic drawings to component level without being at equipment.
 Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, motors and valves; how they function in a working system; and the ability to troubleshoot down to the component level.
