Cranfield University is looking for an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher for a NERC-funded project under the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Sustainability (BESS) Programme which aims to identify and value the importance of biodiversity in the provision of ecosystem services benefits from a study site in Wiltshire. The post will be linked to the “Biodiversity and the provision of multiple ecosystem services in current and future lowland multifunctional landscapes” project (WessexBESS) within the Institute for Environment, Health, Risks and Futures at Cranfield University.

You will have either a PhD in an applied quantitative social sciences discipline or extensive and demonstrable applied experience in quantitative social sciences research and related fields, and have excellent organisational, oral and written communication and presentation skills and good technical writing skills. You will possess a strong background in social sciences with an interest especially in combining qualitative and quantitative social science methods to identify how people interact with and value the environment, agriculture, and ecosystem services.

You will be expected to manage and organise the project research activities, engage with our research partners and collaborators, set up and run workshops and meetings, design questionnaires, conduct interviews, analyse qualitative and quantitative data, produce academic and other research outputs, and report on research progress. You will be working in a multidisciplinary team, and will need to interact effectively with colleagues from a range of academic backgrounds.
