Atlantica AS
Oslo-based Atlantica Shipping AS was established in January 1997.
Atlantica Shipping is a ship owning company. The shareholders in Atlantica are Egon Oldendorff (L?beck), A. M. Nomikos (Athens), and the management.
Atlantica’s main activity today is to develop new projects. Atlantica aims to acquire vessels with long-term commitments to first class charterers and take a major part of the equity and act as the owner and the commercial manager of the project. In addition, we are always trying to invest in a counter cyclical manner, i.e. invest in ships while the markets are generally depressed.
Together with its partners, Atlantica has a number of vessels in its portfolio. Atlantica also undertakes third-party commercial management for other owners. Some of Atlantica’s managed fleet is engaged on long-term charter parties while other Atlantica vessels operate in the spot market or ship cargoes as part of a contract of affreightment.
Atlantica’s main shipping segments include Bulk Carrier segment, Multi Purpose Containers vessels and Ro/Ro vessels. Atlantica fulfils its freight contracts either via its own fleet (tonnage owned or controlled by its shareholders) or via commercially managed vessels or market tonnage.
Atlantica has close relations to a number of cargo owners, charterers and brokers, and enjoys a good reputation amongst its clients and business partners. Furthermore, Atlantica also have very close connections with Nordea, one of the largest Shipping Banks in the world.
The financial results have been satisfactory with positive result every year from 1997.
Atlantica has entered into several long terms chartering commitments with prestigious names like the Klaveness Group, C.T.I. of Jordan, Tianjin Marine Shipping Company, Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Odfjell, Prisco and others.
Atlantica has entered into and successfully completed new building contracts both in China and Japan.
Atlantica had a successful joint venture with a Norwegian state owned company for several years.
Atlantica has built up a very good capital base, and is therefore able to quickly and efficiently take on new challenges.
