Awilhelmsen was first established as a shipowner company in 1939, and has over time developed into an investment company with ownership within Cruise, Real Estate, Shipping & Offshore, Retail and other Industrial Investments.

The Awilhelmsen Group has been Invested in shipping since its inception in 1939. Awilco AS is the shipping and offshore arm of Awilhelmsen, and is today a privately held company located in Oslo, Norway, focusing on investments in and operation of shipping and offshore assets.

The company has owned and operated vessels and rigs within various shipping and offshore segments and has an extensive in-house commercial and technical competence with a strong track-record, including the previously stock listed companies Awilco Offshore and Ocean HeavyLift.

Ownership

Today, Awilco owns 38.6% of the shares in Awilco LNG ASA (ALNG) and 50% of Awilco Eco Tankers Holding AS. In addition, the ownership of 43,3% in Awilco Drilling PLC is manageed by Awilco on behalf of the Awilhelmsen Group.Awilco Technical Services AS (ATS) is a wholly-owned technical management company of Awilco AS and has the technical management of two of Awilco Eco Tankers’ four vessels and both of Awilco LNG’s vessels. Awilco is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Awilhelmsen AS.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) is the world’s second largest cruise company, operating under the brands Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Club Cruises. The Company also owns 50% of the German TUI Cruises, 49% of the Spanish Pullmantur and a minority interest in the Chinese SkySea.

New ships

In total, RCCL has a fleet of 49 ships with a combined capacity of more than 124,000 passengers. During 2018, another three ships will be delivered with a capacity of just over 10,000 passengers. The ships sail world wide and visits about 535 different ports on all seven continents.

Environment and Impact

RCCL actively Works to minimize its impact on the environment and values sustainable and ethical princples. The Company has the industry’s most fuel-efficient fleet and most of the ships have advanced equipment for cleansing water and exhaust.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker code RCL. In 1968, Awilhelmsen was one of three founders of RCCL and has during the whole period been an active and long-term owner of the Company. Still being RCCL’s single largest shareholder, the Awilhelmsen Group, together with affiliates, owns close to 14 % of the shares in RCCL.
