Lubeca Marine Management GmbH & Co. KG

The Lubeca fleet consists of Multi Purpose Vessels (MPP), which are engaged in world-wide trade.

The present Shipowning company origins from a ‘Shipmanagement’ company and was founded in 1988 as Lubeca Marine Management (HK) Ltd. in Hongkong by Capt. Klaus S. Boehe and his partner Steven Cheung, as well as a local Shipowner from the Hanseatic City of L?beck in Germany.

The son of the founder, Jan P. Boehe, joined the company in 1991 and became partner in the following years. The acquisition of the first owned vessel was undertaken in 1995. The geared 15,000 tdw tweendecker M/V ‘Fair Spirit’ was built in 1974 at Sunderland shipyard and taken over from Egon Oldendorff. Further, second hand vessels were acquired in the following years in which the Company concentrated on geared tweendeckers up to 5,000 twd.

Since 2000 onwards Lubeca Marine (Germany) GmbH + Co. KG based in L?beck acted as Managing Owner for the technical/nautical management of all ships. Furthermore, all crewing activities are being planned and carried out internally.

In 2007 the Company for the first time ventured into the newbuilding sector by ordering (4) x 17,000 twd heavylift tweendeckers with 2 x 150 tons plus 1x80 tons cranes. The ships will be delivered from a Chinese shipyard in 2010/2011. All newbuildings are chartered out longterm to the Rickmers Line in Hamburg.

All trading vessels are classed with Germanischer Lloyd which also includes the certification according ISM - Code (International Safety Management) and ISPS - Code (International Ship and Port Facility Code).
