Description:
Responsible for daily security operations on board and while in port, including training of the crew and training of all security department guards
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
This position is critical to the safe and secure operation of the entire vessel.
Incumbent must be fully capable of maintaining a flexible attitude with all security related issues.
Ensuring all aspects of the security program is strictly adhered to by his/her staff and the remainder of the crew.
The ability to effectively apply security standards in a method that has little to no effect on the passengers aboard the vessel.
Requirements:
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more than 25 pounds. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
Work within different temperature changes indoors to outdoors.
Able to pass basic safety course. This is a minimal description of duties. Other work requirements may be necessary and assigned as business or maritime law dictates.
Education:
LICENSES
Holds Basic Safety Course Certificate and appropriate licenses and certificates as required by regulations.
For all NCL Vessels:
STCW 95 Certification
EDUCATION
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Some college related education preferred.
Required to a have minimum of 4 to 6 years of police or military training. Preferably a combination of both.
Poses intermediate to advanced level training in all facets of security to include the completion of a recognized security officer course.

Responsibilities:
Reports directly to the Security Officer.
Shall be familiar with and active in the Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS), including his responsibility in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.
Will maintain timely entries in the vessels security logbook and will be responsible to insure the orderly flow and control of some security related reports.
Enhancing security awareness and vigilance on board;
Ensuring that adequate training has been provided to shipboard personnel, as appropriate;
Reporting all security incidents to the Security Officer and completing SEMS forms;
Ensuring that any security equipment is properly operated, tested, calibrated, and maintained.
