I. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) is responsible for maintaining all electrical and electronic devices onboard the vessel to which they are assigned.

II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

The Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) reports to the Chief Engineer or the officer in charge of the engineering watch (OICEW) on day-to-day issues.

III. AUTHORITY

As directed by the Chief Engineer or the OICEW, the Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) shall have the authority to perform responsibilities aboard his/her assigned vessel in a manner consistent with this job description and other Company policy and procedural guidelines.

IV. RESPONSIBILITY

The responsibilities of the Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

Safe operation and routine maintenance of the vessel’s power, propulsion, auxiliary, and other electro-mechanical and electronic systems in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations of the vessel’s flag, the international community, company policies and procedures, and the manufacturer’s recommendations in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew. Under the direct and active supervision of a licensed officer, monitoring, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance in accordance with Company procedures and in a manner responsible to the safety of the crew and the protection of the natural environment. Responsible care and use of the vessel’s consumable spares, mechanical stores and tools inventories

V. FUNCTIONS

The functions of the Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) in the execution of his/her responsibilities shall include, but not necessarily limited to the following:

A. Standing a watch as determined by the Chief Engineer.

B. Complete appropriate engine room and deck operational and maintenance tasks as directed by the OICEW.

VI. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) of a Company vessel shall be able to do the following:

1. Read, write, and communicate in English.

2. The Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) shall be able to render, understand and react to commands given in English.

3. A valid driver’s license is required. Location: Worldwide
