The position of Able Seaman(AB Deckhand) is considered to be an manual laborer on the vessel, and is responsible for routine deck operations aboard the vessel, including maintaining the cleanliness of the vessel.
License Requirements
US Coast Guard Merchant Mariners Document (Minimum rating of AB Special)
US Coast Guard Approved Basic Safety Training
Experience
Minimum of 1 year of service aboard a tugboat, wire or hawser boats is preferred
Schedule
21 days on and 21 days off
Vessel crewmen work 12-hour work days.
