OFFICER IN CHARGE OF AN ENGINEERING WATCH “OICEW”
The Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch is responsible for operating and maintaining the engine room and other mechanical systems and equipment aboard the vessel to which he/she is assigned, for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including but not limited to compliance with flag state and classification society regulations, the seaworthiness of the vessel, the safety of the crew, protection of the environment, operational and maintenance administration and paperwork, cost control, crew supervision and on the job training, and other responsibilities that may be assigned by the vessel's Captain or that the Chief Engineer/Relief Engineer recognizes as essential to his/her responsibility as manager of the vessel's mechanical systems.
ASSISTANT ENGINEER
The Assistant Engineer is responsible for operating and maintaining the engine room and other mechanical systems and equipment aboard the vessel to which he/she is assigned.
License Requirements
Licensed Chief Engineer or Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch
STCW-95 endorsement III/1 or III/2
Rated for 4000kw horsepower or higher
Preferred Experience
2 years as Engineer
1 year experience as Engineer aboard OSVs
Schedule
35 days on / 35 days off
Vessel crewmen work 12-hour work days. Location: Worldwide
