Tug Engineer

Location: Tugs and Tank Barges
The Chief Engineer is responsible for operating and maintaining the engine room and other mechanical systems and equipment aboard the vessel (and it's tow) to which he/she is assigned, for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel and it's tow, including but not limited to compliance with flag state and classification society regulations, the seaworthiness of the vessel and assigned tow, the safety of the crew, protection of the environment, operational and maintenance administration and paperwork, cost control, crew supervision, on the job training, and other responsibilities that may be assigned by the vessel's Captain or that the Chief Engineer recognizes as essential to his/her responsibility as manager of the vessel's mechanical systems.

License Requirements

US Coast Guard Licensed Engineer (Minimum license of DDE 4000HP)
STCW-95
Preferred Experience

5 years as Engineer
2 years experience as a Chief Engineer
Schedule

21 days on board and 21 days off
Vessel crewmen work 12-hour work days.
