JOB DESCRIPTION
The Marine Technical Superintendent will be assigned to the Fleet Technical Department and will be responsible for supervising the technical condition and maintenance of the vessels, ensuring compliance with international standards and company procedures. The fleet includes pipelaying vessels, multipurpose offshore support vessels, crane vessels, self‑elevating platforms, offshore supply and tug vessels, and diving/ROV support units. This diversity requires broad technical oversight and strong adaptability.
• Location: Ravenna and/or Ortona Office, with assignments on board vessels as required
• Contract Type: Initially fixed-term (with possibility of conversion to permanent contract depending on candidate profile)
• Salary: To be defined according to candidate’s experience
• Contractual Basis: 13 months salary (Italian payroll conditions)
• Travel and Benefits: Business trips in Italy and abroad; travel, board and lodging expenses covered by the Company during missions and dry docks
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise machinery and systems operations, monitoring vessel condition from an engineering perspective and in line with ISM Code, Class, and applicable industry standards.
• Analyze causes of machinery breakdowns and damages, coordinating corrective actions with crew and contractors.
• Support and brief vessel crew on organizational policies, documentation, and technical procedures.
• Verify and monitor execution of planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Liaise with manufacturers, service engineers, and contractors for technical advice and assistance.
• Monitor defect lists and coordinate corrective actions to reduce downtime.
• Prepare technical specifications for repair works and evaluate tenders.
• Superintend vessels during dry dock and maintenance periods, for different vessel classes (e.g., pipelayer, MPSV, OSV) both in Italy and abroad.
• Manage requisitions, purchase orders, and logistics for spare parts and consumables.
• Provide technical support to the fleet, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Report directly to the Head of Technical Department.
REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience in a similar role (as Chief Engineer or Technical Superintendent) is preferred, but strong technical competence is mandatory even without direct experience in the position.
• Valid STCW Chief Engineer CoC is an advantage.
• Excellent technical knowledge of marine engineering systems, maintenance, and repair.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken) is mandatory
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to interact with crew and contractors.
• Willingness to travel in Italy and abroad, including extended periods for dry docks and missions.
• Preferably based near Ravenna/Ortona; relocation support can be provided for candidates living elsewhere.
