Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief Officer in the planning and execution of all deck operations, including anchor handling, towing, and rig moves.
• Monitor and maintain navigational safety, ensuring all navigation equipment is functioning correctly and in compliance with international regulations.
• Act as Officer of the Watch (OOW) during navigation and anchor handling operations, maintaining a vigilant lookout and ensuring the safety of the vessel and crew.
• Oversee and participate in deck maintenance tasks, including the upkeep of mooring and towing equipment, ensuring all gear is in good working condition.
• Conduct regular safety drills and inspections in accordance with the vessel’s safety management system.
• Collaborate with other departments on board to ensure smooth operations, including communication with the engine room and bridge team.
• Ensure all deck crew are trained and adhere to safety procedures during operations.
• Maintain accurate records and logs related to navigation, operations, and safety, reporting any incidents or near misses to the Chief Officer.
• Assist in the implementation and enforcement of the company’s safety and environmental policies.
• Participate in vessel audits and inspections by flag state, port state, and third-party organizations.

Working Conditions:
• The role requires working in a maritime environment, which may include harsh weather conditions and extended periods at sea.
• The candidate must be physically fit and able to work in confined spaces.

REQUIREMENTS

• Certification: Valid Second Mate Unlimited License (II/1).
• Certification: ECDIS Sperry Marine (preferable).
• Experience: Significant experience as a Second Mate on similar vessels, preferably with experience in towing operations.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with the operational and safety requirements of tug boat towing operations
• Physical Fitness: Capability to perform duties under physically demanding maritime conditions.
