2nd Engineer

Organization
The position as 2nd Engineer belongs to the engine department. The 2nd Engineer is also the vessel's Environmental Officer. The 2nd Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer.

Authority
The 2nd Engineer has the authority to:

Stop any work they consider to be hazardous to personnel, the environment or assets.

Education/Certification
The 2nd Engineer must hold an Engine Officer's certificate appropriate for the vessel on which they are assigned.

Working Experience
As required for holding the appropriate Engine Officer Certificate.
It is preferred that the 2nd Engineer has previous experience from vessel type
