SUMMARY:
The geologist should have considerable experience in the interpretation of seismic data, and integrating geological and well data into seismic interpretation, well log correlation, stratigraphy and depositional systems to ensure that the geological aspects of the exploration, appraisal, development and management of hydrocarbon resources is optimally performed within the technical guidelines. It is essential that the candidate has experience of rift basin and deep water depositional systems as key parts of the company’s exploration portfolio include a variety of rift and deep water depositional settings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with geophysicists to integrated geology into 2D and 3D seismic interpretation.
Development of geological models and coherent structural models from integration of well, outcrop and analogue data
Integration of 1D and pseudo-3D basin models to develop prospectively in basins
Prospect generation, including volumetric assessment, ranking and risking
Work with the geophysical projects team specialists on rock physics studies as required, including seismic attribute studies, seismic modelling, inversion and AVO.
Design and writing of Exploration well proposals as appropriate.
Database co-ordination (including GIS and Geoframe).
Written and verbal reporting of technical studies and appropriate presentation to management, partners & Government bodies and representatives.
Lead workflow and review processes and contribute to well proposals/post well evaluations/interpretation projects as required.
Manage projects to time and budget.
Presentation at TCM, OCM and MCM meetings as required and instructed.
Contribute to planning project budgets.
Experience Required:
MSc or PhD in Geology
Minimum 10 years of experience primarily geological interpretation and prospect generation, along with broad technical experience in hydrocarbon exploration
Good understanding of geological processes, including structural geology, depositional systems and sequence stratigraphy
Good understanding of geological features apparent in seismic, including skills in seismic sequence stratigraphy and seismic geomorphology
Experience of numerous basins worldwide
Significant experience with an operating oil company is essential
Understanding of project execution and cost implications.
Strong current geological workstation skills, including working in a 3D visualisation environment
Expertise in GIS and database management would be an advantage
Good communicator and presenter
