SENIOR MARINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrable track record in design projects involving diesel electric power plants.
Principal duties
Perform electrical engineering calculations using recognized practices for the marine industry and to Classification and other regulatory agency requirements.
Prepare electrical design technical packages including one-line diagrams, electric load analysis; short circuit analysis; cable selection for submission to Classification Societies.
Have excellent knowledge of marine electrical systems to ensure the functionality of the equipment required for a vessel.
Prepare electrical arrangement taking into account all systems requirements.
Prepare electric cable/component weight estimates.
Capable of supervising development of cable tray and equipment arrangements and production information in 2-D and 3-D.
Act as Design Project Manager for small projects when requested, with responsibilities for budget, quality and schedule control.
Provide technical lead assistance to other Project Managers on larger projects.
Experience
Minimum 10 years Marine Electrical Systems design experience.
Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
Familiar with Classification Society, US and international regulations, including Transport Canada, USCG, CFR, SOLAS, IEEE, MARPOL, IACS, ILC.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or better from an industry recognized institution.
Professional Engineer status or eligibility status preferred but not essential.
Ability to work independently or in large project team.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Canadian Residency/ Citizenship preferred.
