Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrable track record in design projects and other practical applications of advanced analysis.
Principal duties
Perform stability calculations and hull form development using software such as GHS and Rhino.
Perform detailed seakeeping and operability calculations, including MII & MSI
Perform maneuvering calculations, DP sizing calculations
Perform powering calculations, including resistance calculations and propeller sizing calculations.
Prepare vessel arrangements displaying knowledge of SOLAS and regulatory body requirements.
Prepare weight estimates to either class or production engineering level of detail.
Develop models for FE analysis and have the ability to carry out basic analysis.
Develop models for CFD analysis and have the ability to carry out basic analysis.
Preparation of project schedules (budget, work plans, etc)
Monitor project budget performance & technical quality
Monitor individual project status (budget, work plans, etc) and provide regular updates to the senior project manager.
Experience
5 years experience working in a naval architecture design consultancy office
In depth knowledge of the designs for different Canadian and International flag states and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or better from an industry recognized institution. A Master's degree is preferred.
Professional Engineer status in the Province of Ontario preferred.
Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
Excellent time management ability
Ability to work independently or in a large project team.
Canadian Residency/Citizenship preferred.
