The OIM is the overall supervision and general on-board responsibility towards AMS, the Client and the authorities for the safe and economical operation of the installation; his/her position is equivalent to the Captain on-board a ship, and must therefore take extensive safety, environmental and leadership courses to build up the necessary theoretical knowledge to lead a fully-manned rig and its crew. (S)He
also ensures that the Client’s representative and relevant department heads are kept informed about all activities and operations on-board the rig.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AS OIM MARINE

The OIM is the overall responsible for the economical and efficient operation of the rig, and its crew’s safety and productivity. (S)He must effectively manage the team, and provide leadership, direction and coaching to enhance performance and competency. This includes motivating and developing crew to ensure engagement, efficiency and safety are embedded in the working culture. Furthermore, the OIM
will support recruitment, selection, training and competency programmes for offshore teams. The OIM is therefore the designated “Responsible Person” with overall responsibility for the following areas:
 All operations.
 Protection of the environment.
 The rig, including structure and maintenance.
 Loading and unloading operations, bunkering and ballasting in co-operation with the Barge Engineer.
 Helideck, helideck equipment, crewing and operations in co-operation with the Barge Engineer.
 Safety and life-saving equipment.
 Emergency drills and exercises.
 Safety training of the crew in co-operation with the HR Manager.
 Certificates and journals in co-operation with the QHSE Manager.
 Crew qualifications in co-operation with the HR Manager.
 Material requisitions in co-operation with TMP department.
 General housekeeping.

WORKING OFFSHORE IN AMS

When working offshore it is important to show commitment to AMS’ culture of safety and continuous improvement through personal behaviour and willingness to influence others. You are responsible for working in a manner which ensures personal safety for you and all the crew members. It is also important to perform duties safely in accordance with instructions, procedures and training. We also
expect our employees to ensure his/her actions do not compromise the Company’s procedures for safeguarding the environment.

As OIM, his/her responsibilities in QHSE are rather more broad; (s)he will be required to hold regular safety meetings disseminating information on safety and new procedures, and is the overall responsible for the promotion and implementation of the Company’s QHSE policies. (S)He will also ensure all incidents and accidents are reported and fully investigated, that these reports are correctly completed and submitted, and that drills and exercises are performed regularly.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 10 years experience in offshore drilling, including 3 years as Barge Engineer, and a proven track record. As a minimum you master written and spoken English. In addition the following requirements are needed:

 Master Mariner (F.G.) Class 1 Master Mariner or equivalent.
 Completion of Marine Operation of Self Elevating Platforms and Management of Major Emergencies Courses.
 BOSIET Certificate or equivalent.
 MIST Certificate or equivalent.
 Offshore Medical Certificate or equivalent.
 OIM Rules and Regulations.
 H2S Training or equivalent (as per location requirement).
 Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
