Port Captain – WEST AFRICA
The Role
Overall responsibility and activities including but not limited to the below mentioned.

• This is a management position responsible to ensure vessels are crewed, operated and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.
• This person will: implement standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet; ensure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirements.
• Assist in the development and adherences of the operational budgets investigate vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries.
• Ensure all appropriate authorized and company personnel are notified and that proper documentation is completed accurately.
• Supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel, and crew management development.
• Inspect vessels quarterly to ensure seaworthy condition and arrange for maintenance and repair activities to correct any deficiencies.
• Arranges and coordinate in between fleet and its crews as necessary
• Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.
• Assist and coordinate with Superintendents and GM Operations.
• Provide comprehensive support in the planning and accomplishment of ship repair activities.
• Acts as owner's representative during shipyard availabilities and overhauls, acts as department safety officer, and when required assumes the responsibilities of the marine superintendent.
• Ship visits & Monitor ISM systems & all other relevant inspection& adherence
• Monitor ISPS code inspection and adherence
• Timely inspection & review of ships drawings, schemes, Muster List, Fire Plan & Emergency Duties inspection.
Reporting To
GM Operations or any other reporting Manager appointed by the company.
Required Qualification
Marine Certificate / Diploma / Degree and minimum 10 years or more.
• Experience in AHTS Vessels – GMD Engines
• Candidates should be able to provide related documents for this rank.
• Strong familiarity with maritime regulatory body rules and regulations.
• Experienced with ISM and its related bodies
• Periodically Making Deficiency list rectification & update.
• Preparing Port State Control deficiency list & rectification update.
• Preparing Class Society deficiency list rectification & updates.
• Preparing Flag State Inspections deficiency list rectification & updates
• Conducting ships safety inspection
• Conducting ships condition inspection
• Ship maintenance and repair inspection report
• Bridge Radio-Navigational and Electro-Navigational Equipment Inspection report
• Food Provisions, Refrigerators, Menus, Food/ Housekeeping Purchasing Inspections
