Mideast Ship Management Ltd. is a subsidiary of Bahri. It was established in the year 1996 jointly by Bahri and Acomarit, a ship management company based in Scotland to render quality ship management services to Bahri and other companies. The Mideast office was set-up in Dubai, which is the hub of the international market.
In the year 2005, Bahri acquired full ownership of Mideast. Mideast started its operation with the Management of 9 vessels. Presently, the company manages 78 ships composed of Chemical Carriers, VLCC's, Dry-Bulk Ships and Ro-Ro's.
Claims Specialist
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
Demurrage and Claims
Evaluate performance of ship in terms of how many hours are spent at load and discharge ports, and at sea in order to contribute to maximising the amount received for time spent at ports or spent sailing and minimising how much is paid to the spot vessel Owners.
Handle Deviation Claims to determine the root-cause pertaining to the claim (i.e. ship or instruction) in order to establish the nature of the claim.
In consultation with Owner, determine at which point deviations occurred to extend time of voyage (e.g. did the vessel need to speed up or go off a route for safety purposes).
Evaluate Spot demurrage and claims as well as raise demurrage and claims against Bolanter under the terms of the COA between Bolanter Corporation and Bahri.
Measure Time Charter performance against warranted speed and bunker consumption
Raise freight invoices, demurrage and other claims against Charterer of Bahri vessels on voyage charter.
Information Management
Gather information for formulation/development of KPI’s relating to the demurrage and claims function to ensure that commitments are met.
Perform statistical analysis of demurrage and claims, highlighting trends and areas of improvement and issue periodic reports.
Capture data relating to demurrage and claims and maintain the database and system used to capture critical market intelligence related to competitors, potential clients and opportunities.
Marketing of Services
Represent the Company to clients who raise Spot Demurrage and Claims and create solid, cooperative and constructive relationships to identify customer needs and expectations and ensure total customer satisfaction.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
Ensure all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor Degree in Marine Transportation, Engineering, Economics, Science or Business Administration
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
6-8 years in marine industry, commercial shipping or oil planning and scheduling OR 3 years experience as a Deck Officer on Oil Tankers
OR Experience within Chartering or relevant areas such as Commercial Shipping/Oil Planning and Scheduling/Marine Field is preferred
