Job Description:
Position Title Risk Manager

Position Summary This role is responsible for the plan design, risk funding, procurement of the corporate and project specific insurance programs and insurance claims management. Analyze, classify and manage risks according to frequency and potential severity, measuring the financial impact to the company. Willingness to work hands-on with the bid teams to ensure all contractual requirements and potential risks are addressed.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
• Developing, evaluating and implementing an overall risk management insurance program for the organization insure that utilizes the best policy types, coverage, forms and riders to best protect the company
• Negotiate and procure all insurance coverage including Property, General Liability, Excess/Umbrella, Worker’s Compensation, Automobile, Equipment, Marine Liability/Hull and any other coverage necessary for the company and related entities
• Review project contract bid specifications, secure competitive project specific insurance quotations as needed, review insurance program costs and alternatives with bid team and assist in preparation of a risk matrix for uninsured risks
• Work with JV partners to establish project insurance requirements/options and pricing for this insurance.
• OCIP and CCIP enrollment and management of the relationship with the carrier and broker
• Oversee and maintain positive and constructive relationships with the insurance carrier and broker underwriters
• Administer and manage major claim losses to mitigate the costs, including establishment of reporting procedures to third parties, coordinating insurance carrier services and reconcile actual claims payments against carrier deductible billings
• Establish subcontractor insurance specifications and oversee compliance with insurance requirements
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend meetings, site visits, training, etc.

Skills and Abilities
• Strong technical knowledge of construction insurance
• Knowledge of heavy civil construction and its inherent risks
• Understanding of financial and accounting practices
• Hands-on, independent and accountable management style
• Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
• Decision-making ability
• Ability to cope under pressure
• Negotiation skills and the ability to influence people
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Commercial awareness
• Ability to understand broad business issues and Cost Accounting System

Education/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a Business related study required
• Continuing education leading to the following designations: Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) or related field preferred
• Five-year’s experience in insurance or risk management administrating property, liability, automobile and Worker’s Compensation
• Construction industry experience is highly preferred
