Description

TCN - OFFICER IN CHARGE OF A NAVIGATIONAL WATCH / CHEIF MATE

Chief Mate, or Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch, when acting in his or her capacity as Captain, is the Master as well as the Manager of the vessel. The Captain shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, including, but not limited to the safe navigation and piloting of the vessel, the seaworthiness of the vessel, the safety of the crew and any passengers, protection of the environment, protection of the cargo or property of the charterer, charterer relations, bridge administration and paperwork, cost control, crew supervision and on the job training, and other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Company or that the Captain recognizes as essential to his/her responsibility as Master and Manager of the Vessel.

License Requirements

Licensed from a WHITE-LISTED country
STCW License of II/2 or II/1
STCW approved Basic Safety Training
Marine Radio Operator's Permit
ARPA
Oceans Endorsement and DPO Certificate
Preferred Experience

3 years as Master / Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch for a non- trade restricted 1600 ton vessel+
1 year experience as Master or Mate aboard OSV's
Dynamic Positioning Experience
GMDSS Operator
International experience preferred
Schedule

35 days on - 35 days off
Vessel crewmen work 12-hour work days.

TCN - MATE

Job Functions:

The functional responsibility of the Training Mate shall primarily be to:

Follow a regimented program of onboard and classroom training required for the trainee to acquire a DP Operator certificate;
Become proficient at safe vessel operations and navigation;
Hold navigational look-out watches while the vessel is underway;
Assist the vessel master with administration responsibilities; and
Seamanship duties as instructed by the vessel Master.
Job Requirements:

Successful Mate Training candidates must possess a minimum of the following:

STCW License of II/2 or II/1
STCW approved Basic Safety Training
DP experience and have taken at least DP Advanced course
Licensed from a WHITE-LISTED country

In addition to the minimum requirements, the following would be preferred:

Unlimited Radar Operator License
GMDSS Operator’s license
ARPA Location: Worldwide
