Description
Job Functions:
The functional responsibility of the Training Mate shall primarily be to:
follow a regimented program of onboard and classroom training required for the trainee to acquire a 1,600T Mate license and DP Operator certificate;
become proficient at safe vessel operations and navigation;
hold navigational look-out watches while the vessel is underway;
assist the vessel master with administration responsibilities; and
seamanship duties as instructed by the vessel Master.
Job Requirements:
Successful Mate Training candidates must possess a minimum of the following:
USCG License of at least 1600 GRT Master
DP Experience with at least DP Advanced.
3 years of small vessel navigation experience
In addition to the minimum requirements, the following would be preferred:
Unlimited Radar Operator License
GMDSS Operator’s license
