Key Accountabilities:
· Lead and coach team to ensure adherence to safety requirements according to the company’s HSE policies and local health, safety and environmental regulations
· Participate in mobilising exercise with Project Manager / Engineer/ Stores
· Ensure availability of all equipment, tools, manpower and facilities for drilling operations.
· Mobilise drill rigs, small geotechnical platforms or small vessels and its crew.
· Allocate tasks to drilling team and supervise drilling work from either a drill rig (land) or self-elevating platform.
· Personally supervise actual drilling activities and guide/train drillers on correct drilling methods suitable for each terrain/location, from tool usage point of view
· Carry out maintenance and performance checks for equipment to ensure that these are safe to use, and are in good working condition.
· Ensure that good ‘housekeeping’ policies are observed by drillers.
· Prepare and check drilling log sheets and progress reports- monitor daily targets to achieve maximum production.
· Undertake small projects from time to time to assemble customised equipment, rigs, etc. and handle this from design stage to advising on actual assembly, trouble shoot till successful commissioning
· Oversee inventory of equipment, tools and spares at site, as well as supply, storage and issue of these in an organised manner, with records.
· Ensure registration and certification of overhauled and new machines and equipment to meet statutory safety and other compliance requirements.
· Conduct site visits and propose suitable equipment which is best suitable for the specific job.

Qualifications required:
· Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar qualification for providing a technical grounding to work which involves maintenance and assembly of small motors and customised winches, rigs, etc.
Skills / experience required to do the job:
· At least 6-7 years of hands-on work of a similar nature with the last 2-3 years of supervising a team. Should have had prior experience of preventive and break-down maintenance of similar tools and equipment, viz. drilling equipment, diesel and petrol engines.
