Principal Accountabilities:
• Ensure safety of the ship, both an occupational and operational level.
• Responsible for the safe operation of their vessel and must ensure that it is operated and crewed according to both company and legal guidelines.
• Ensure that the ship and its operations comply with legal, international, local and Company’s regulations and requirements.
• Investigate any damage to the vessel, personal injuries of crew and the environmental effects of the vessel; this includes monitoring any pollution and checking for oil spills around the vessel and at ports and harbours.
• Ensure the maintenance of all on-board equipment, including machinery, engines, and safety equipment with regular inspection.
• Ensure safe navigation of the ship.
• Prepared to keep a watch as and when required.
Required Minimum:
• Age of not more than 60 years
• Minimum of 2 years of experience sailing as a Captain on LNG vessel with experience on DFDE Motor vessel as an added adavantage
• Valid:-
o STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (unlimited) - master mariner (expiration is not less than 12 months as of September 2021)
o Advanced Gas Tanker Endorsement or Gas Tanker Familiarization / Specialised Tanker Training Certificate – STCW A-V/1
o Security Training for Seafarer with Designated Security Duties certificate or Ship Security Officer Certificate – STCW A-VI/6
o GMDSS; General Operators Certificate (expiration is not less than 12 months as of September 2021)
• Possess valid certificates of the following STCW trainings within 5 years (as of September 2021):-
Basic Fire Fighting – STCW A-VI/1
Personal Survival Techniques – STCW A-VI/1
Personal Safety and Social Responsibility
Elementary First Aid or Medical First Aid – STCW A-VI/1
Advanced Fire Fighting – STCW A-VI/3
Proficient Survival Craft and Rescue Boats – STCW A-VI/2
• Valid passport (expiration is not less than 12 months as of September 2021)
• Valid Medical Certification (expiration is not less than 12 months as of September 2021)
• Discharge book from country that was issued and would have been recognized by Maritime Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD).
• Successfully completed :-
o Manned Model Ship Handling course
o Bridge Team Management (BTM)
o Electronic Chart Display Information System (ECDIS)
o SIGTTO
o Navigational Skills Assessment Program (NSAP)
• When required, a valid USA entry visa ‘C1/D’ with a minimum of 6 months validity upon joining the vessel.
• Have not involved in any illegal activities during the tenure as a seafarer.
• Seafarers must agree to adhere or participate in any Brunei Gas Carriers’ relevant QHSSE activities that may have impact to the reputation of the Company.
