Service Engineer (Singapore, Shanghai and Hamburg based)
Reporting to the Service Manager, this position requires a person ideally with experience as a mechanical fitter in a maintenance environment. Preferably you would already have relevant experience of servicing shipboard lifeboats and davits but specialised training will be given covering a wide range of lifesaving products to suitable candidates. While based at our Singapore, Shanghai or Hamburg offices, the job itself will be primarily offsite onboard ships both locally and worldwide. Due to the nature of the job, applicants will need to be physically and medically fit and prepared to travel away from home (sometimes sailing with vessels) for periods of time.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Routine servicing, maintenance, repairs and load testing of shipboard deck equipment, both on and off site in marine and offshore related environments.
Training of ship board personnel in correct and safe operation of shipboard deck equipment.
Preparation of Service Reports and expense claims
Identification of additional work or material requirements during debriefing sessions
Ensuring that materials are available prior to the commencement of the job
Assisting the Service Department in the preparation of quotations
Assistance with workshop related activities and on-site product refurbishment
Responsibility for the maintenance of your work area and tools
Providing technical experience and information
Availability to work in any location at all times sometimes to tight schedules
Contribute in ensuring a safe working environment

QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates need to possess good written and verbal English language skills and be physically fit.
A background in Mechanical / Marine Engineering would be preferable although full training will be provided to suitable candidates.
Be comfortable in working alone or as part of a team, depending on the nature of the job.
The ability to plan and execute work to tight deadlines.
Being in a maintenance environment you will be able to have good problem solving and analytical abilities to rectify problems encountered on site.
Have an adaptable and flexible attitude and be willing to travel extensively.
