Job Overview: A private oil Company operating in the field of offshore exploration and production of oil and gas seeks a Data Room Assistant to support their data room activities in Central London for approximately eight to ten weeks. Applicants are invited with excellent personable and coordination skills, preferably with an understanding of exploration and/or production data. Some exposure to Petrel advantageous. The Company is open to reviewing graduate level to senior experienced E&P data professionals. For more junior applicants, opportunities may exist to gain exposure in some geotechnical work at the Company’s nearby offices. Dependent on the skills and experience, the Company is highly flexible on day rate and conditions.
The Company’s exploration activities include countries in West Africa, the North Sea and the Baltic region whilst their production operations are currently based in Angola and the Ivory Coast.
The Data Room will be opened early May with three work stations hosting Petrel seismic interpretation and reservoir engineering software Interested parties will visit to view the data over a period of four days per company. The room will be open from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm 7 days a week and interested parties must pre-book. Therefore you may have to work long days and also come in at weekends. Flexibility is key to this role.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Data Room Manager you will be expected to:
Be committed to the data room for 8 to 10 weeks at times as required.
Familiarise yourself with the interested parties pre-booked to visit the data rooms – who they are, what company, where they operate etc. The visiting schedule will be provided. Access to the Internet available.
Meet and greet interested parties – offer refreshments.
Explain the types of data available and on which desktop (training will be provided).
Assist in helping them access project data files.
During periods where no visitors, potentially provide some geotechnical assistance at the Company’s nearby offices.
Ensure the highest level of confidentiality regarding the Company, their activities and data. You will be rehearsed as to the information that can be released.
Be discreet but helpful in providing assistance as required. Report back any unusual instances.
This is a good opportunity for a highly personable individual. A graduate would gain great experience of how a data room works, assisting a variety of oil operators in their quest for information and also potentially to support the Company in a geotechnical role during the period. An experienced professional would hopefully be able to offer more informed support relating to the data.
Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
Degree in an Earth Science discipline preferred.
Good understanding of the Exploration work flow.
Good understanding of the various exploration and production data available (e.g. well, seismic, maps, prospectivity reports, potential play concepts, commercial data….) and how this data is stored and presented.
Previous experience of working, organising or supporting a data room highly advantageous.
Highly flexible – able to work long days and weekend as required.
Highly confidential – ability to understand the sensitivity relating to questions and how to reply diplomatically.
Knowledge of, or experience using Petrel advantageous. Not essential though.
Analytical and trouble-shooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve requests.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills – mature and confident and able to communicate to companies with discretion and also with the ability to make visitors feel at ease, relaxed and able to achieve their objectives.
Enthusiastic, and highly flexible.
Good understanding of Windows technologies desired.
Package: Oil Operator is highly flexible on the Rate – very dependent on skills and experience.
