Job Overview: A leading Industry E&P Software global Company, focused on the development and deployment of software for the oil & gas industry seeks a Petrophysical Support Specialist to provide support for the “Geolog” application suite. You will work alternative weeks at a major Norwegian oil company Client site and at the Company’s office. Applicants are invited with some experience using the Geolog petrophysical application and the ability to support end-clients in petrophysical techniques. They Company’s global exploration & production client base includes in excess of 600+ national oil companies (NOCs) and numerous medium-to-large to super-major exploration and production oil companies.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Norway Team Lead, this role encompasses many functions including:
Become technically competent in the Company’s application suite, work practices and workflows. Full training will be provided.
Provide on-site Geolog application support for a major Norwegian oil company
Working along-side colleagues in the Oslo Office, provide support to the wider client base in Norway via phone, email, and potential site visits.
Assist the Oil Company Client and other Clients in developing effective Petrophysical workflows.
Offer advice and guidance in the operational use of the Geolog application.
Track and evaluate support requests and maintain all support activity on the helpdesk/knowledge database.
Follow-up on customer technical issues and liaise with management & software developers to ensure that problems will be resolved in a timely manner.
Provide user training as required.
Identify future support requirements and relay information to the relevant people.
Demonstrate key workflows to prospective clients and solve simple to complex problems, assessing all possible scenarios before selecting the most suitable solution.
Keep abreast of current and future developments of the Company’s software suite and other industry technologies.
Beta Testing and reporting bugs, recommend improvements in quality of support processes and workflows.
Work in a professional and timely manner ensuring all queries are responded to with a high level of customer satisfaction.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
A Degree in a Geoscience related subject essential (Preferably Geology)
Some exposure using, supporting or/and training using Geolog essential.
Experience using other recognized geological and/or geophysical applications advantageous, in particular OpenWorks R5000 highly advantageous.
Experience in providing Petrophysical technical support within the Oil and Gas industry is highly advantageous.
An understanding of the exploration – production workflows advantageous and how petrophysics adds value to this workflow.
Good IT skills, with familiarity with Unix/Linux environments.
Analytical and trouble-shooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve client issues.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux and Windows networks desired.
Excellent communications skills (both written and oral) with the ability to listen and articulate clearly, conveying effective and accurate support to the end-users
The ability to take ownership of activities and to ensure successful completion.
Enthusiasm, willingness and ability to travel essential.
Package: A Base Salary 455K – 500K NOK (circa £50K – £55K) plus performance bonus, and a full range of Company Benefits is on offer dependent on skills and experience. There may be some flexibility on Base Salary for a high calibre candidate.
