Job Overview: A leading global seismic solutions Company providing advanced acquisition equipment, software and planning, and seismic processing services to the oil and gas industry seek Seismic Acquisition Analysts. Following appropriate training, you will assist clients in optimising the design and implementation of complex seismic acquisition surveys, by effectively utilising the Company’s acquisition software and tools. This role is ideal for a recent graduate in geophysics, math’s, physics or geoscience related subject who is analytical and wishes to purse a career working with an expanding global geophysical player. The Company is a global provider of survey design, real time navigation, and positioning systems and offers an integrated family of products addressing the navigation and data management requirements of 2D, 3D and 4D seismic surveys in towed streamer and seabed operations. They operate in marine and transition zone environments, as well as challenging applications, such as full-wave and 4D.

All services are delivered by expert personnel and backed up by an extensive library of software tools. Working along-side this team of experts, you will quickly gain exposure to the acquisition workflow and practices. You will be trained in all aspects of the Company’s navigation and acquisition software and will work towards assisting clients in optimising the design and implementation of seismic acquisition surveys. You will be supported and mentored and will take on additional tasks and responsibilities as your progress in your training and development.
The role is based in the Company’s offices in Edinburgh, but involves offshore work on a crew vessel. These vessels may be based in West Africa, North Sea and Australia etc. 30-40 days offshore work anticipated in the first year, and then increasing subsequent years up to an estimated 100 days per year. When offshore you will receive a Field Allowance. Extended periods of circa 6 weeks may be spent offshore.
Responsibilities: Reporting to Services Manager this role encompasses many functions offshore and onshore including:
Office Based
Become competent in the Company’s software, workflows and practices. Full training will be provided.
Become familiar with the seismic acquisition workflows – learn the various anomalies for marine acquisition and for various global environments. Strive to build your knowledge.
Assist in the Survey Design process – contributing to the planning and design of the survey.
Analyse historic data and use to identify optimum design of future seismic acquisition surveys.
Assist and coordinate testing of all software as required.
Work closely with development team to ensure optimal product functionality.
Assist with various data management issues such as recording and management of incoming and outgoing data.
Build good working relationships with Clients – liaise with them as necessary throughout the survey project.
Offshore Based
Utilise functionality of products to enhance survey acquisition.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems and report appropriately.
Assist and coordinate testing of all software as required.
Work closely with the development team to help ensure optimal product functionality.
Be proactive in checking that the survey complies with agreed parameters.
Liaise with clients in a professional and timely manner.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
Degree in a numerate discipline such as geophysics, maths, physics, computer science, or similar essential. Post Graduate degree highly advantageous.
Experience or/and knowledge of the seismic acquisition business highly advantageous.
Preference will be given to those with relevant industry experience.
Strong analytical and numerate skills – the ability to identify and resolve problems essential.
Basic Linux skills highly advantageous.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications essential.
Previous experience working offshore on a vessel, with various multicultural groups desirable.
Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken) – the ability to convey technical solutions in a coherent manner essential.
Good client liaison skills, as you will be dealing with clients on a regular basis.
Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised for periods away from home in an offshore environment.
Self-confident – able to travel in confidence (all arrangements made by Company)
Service orientated – strive to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction essential

Package: A Base Salary of £20K – £24K (GBP) plus offshore allowance of circa £140 – £160 per day dependent on level of experience. First Year Package estimated at £24,200 – £30,400 (Base plus 30-40 days offshore allowance). Plus a full range of Company Benefits
