Job Overview: A fast growing, dynamic company with an established and reputable windows based Geoscience suite of applications, for the oil and gas industry, seeks two Junior Geoscience Support Specialists to provide support to their growing business throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Applications are invited from graduates or junior geoscientists who are interested in fast developing their technical hands-on application skills and dealing with clients. You will be mentored and supported by senior level geoscientists and there is great potential to progress your Geoscience career quickly. Full training provided. The key to this role is enthusiasm and the ambition to succeed in a support role.
The Company was the first in the market to develop Geoscience interpretation tools for Windows NT and is now placed as the global leader of Windows based software for exploration and production. The software is widely used by geoscientists across major to small oil companies in 95 countries.
The Company has a large client base globally and offices in all major oil capitals, a strong management team, excellent operational and support staff, leading edge integrated Geoscience technology suite, and most importantly committed finances; they are strategically ready for major expansion, and have a renewed effort in delighting customers by being responsive and helpful in all cases.
With an academic background in a Geoscience related discipline and a desire to be part of a growing organisation, you will work alongside senior level geoscientists and become proficient over time in the technical usage of the Company’s software suite, taking on more responsibility for support tasks as you develop your skills. As you progress in this role you will provide support to geoscientists and engineers working at oil and service client sites, throughout Europe and Africa. Typically support is provided by telephone or electronic methods although site visits may also be required.
Full training will be provided to help you develop an in-depth knowledge of the geological & geophysical product suite, their integrated workflows and the necessary Windows IT skills.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director, Customer Care EMEA you will be expected to:
Become competent in the Company’s technologies – training will be provided in London
Work alongside senior level support staff, learning the support process, developing your knowledge and understanding of the technologies and the problems encountered by clients.
Be proactive in taking on more support tasks as you develop your skills. For example – see tasks below.
Get to know your client base, build relationships with them, and understand how they utilise their existing technologies, workflows and process. Be proactive in offering advice and guidance in assisting them to maximise their productivity.
Provide technical pre-sales and post-sales support through direct contact with clients via e-mail, phone and site visits when required.
Demonstrate key workflows to prospective clients and solve simple to complex problems, assessing all possible scenarios before selecting the most suitable solution.
Track and evaluate support requests, and maintain all support activity on the helpdesk database.
Follow-up on client technical support issues to ensure that problems have been resolved. Escalate to higher-level support personnel where necessary.
Identify future support needs and relay information to the relevant people.
Deliver application training courses at client sites or in house at Company offices.
Keep abreast of current and future developments of the Company’s software suite and other industry technologies.
Work in a professional and timely manner ensuring all queries are responded to with a high level of customer satisfaction.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
Degree in an Earth Science discipline essential. Masters/PhD preferred.
Strong desire to advance your technical knowledge of leading edge geoscience technologies.
Knowledge of, or experience using geoscience applications (e.g. Kingdom, Landmark, or Schlumberger technologies) highly desirable, although extensive training and mentoring will be provided.
Knowledge of data environments desired (e.g. OpenWorks, GeoFrame, OpenSpirit etc)
Good understanding of Windows technologies desired.
Some relevant work experience highly advantageous.
An understanding of oil company G&G workflows advantageous.
Analytical and trouble-shooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve client issues.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral) with the ability to listen accurately and articulate clearly to convey effective and accurate support to the Client – essential.
Customer-focused attitude with a high regard for service delivery.
Ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting demands effectively under time constraints
Good presentation skills.
Confident and self-reliant – the ability to work independently as you become proficient in the technologies.

Package: An attractive Base Salary of £25K – £35K per year plus Company Benefits, dependent on skills and experience. Role offers a great working dynamic environment. There is definitely flexibility on salary for high calibre candidates.
